Rain washed out all but eight overs on the final day to rescue the batting line-up after being bowled out for 181 in the first innings.

But Bicknell believes that performance was just a blip and has promised a big opening partnership from himself and fellow opener Jason Gallian.

He said: ?I think we got the worst of the conditions in our first innings and I?m sure we?ll get ourselves right against Warwickshire.

?Hopefully Jason and I will set our stall out as we did in the second innings of this match and prepare the team for a big total.

?We?ve all been batting well this season and although there have been a couple of low totals recently, the confidence in the dressing room is still very high.?

After bowling out the visitors for a par total of 325, we were undone by career-best swing bowling from Peter Trego on day two which put us on the back foot for the rest of the match.

As the pitch flattened batting became easier and Middlesex set a huge victory target of 530 for us to chase.

Bicknell and Gallian produced a 115-run partnership to ease any worries of defeat and rain guaranteed an extra four points to help us stay in the Championship race.
