The 19-year-old from Carlton, who this week signed a new two-year contract, is already regarded as one of the quickest bowlers in the country and is aiming to maintain his progress after making his Championship debut this season.

He said: ?Spending three months in the company of people who have played Test and One-day International cricket will be a real help to me - much like it has been in the Notts dressing room this year.

?I?m sure a winter at Loughborough will make me fitter and stronger and able to bowl longer spells at full pace.

?I?d like to get more games under my belt and hopefully what I learn this winter can help me become part of a rotation system with the other seamers at Trent Bridge.?

Footitt took five wickets on debut against Glamorgan at Trent Bridge, including a prize maiden first-class scalp of Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, and also played a big part in England Under-19s series victory over Sri Lanka.

He added: ?It?s been a great year for me and I hope I?ll be able to celebrate plenty more trophies in the future with Notts. I?m a Nottingham lad and Trent Bridge is the only place I want to play.?

Director of Cricket Mick Newell said: ?Mark has developed into a handful at any level with his pace and we want to see that progress continue.

?He offers us something different to our other left-armers Ryan Sidebottom and Greg Smith and with their experience we feel Mark can make further steps forward in the future.?
