Nottinghamshire have been dealing with a bumper demand for international tickets from cricket fans across the East Midlands.

More than 16,000 seats for the 2008 Test and One-day International at Trent Bridge were booked in the first 24 hours of going on sale to the general public on Monday.

And Notts Deputy Chief Executive Lisa Pursehouse said: “As always, opening day proved a busy one for the ticket office, due to the high demand from our supporters.

“When you include sales to members, we are already in a situation where less than 4,000 tickets are left for the NatWest Series One-day International between England and South Africa on August 26.

“Bearing in mind that our capacity will be up to 17,000 after the completion of the redevelopment work at the ground, that’s terrific news.

“We are sorry if some people experienced delays on Monday, but we have been operating a helpdesk and if anyone still has any outstanding queries or concerns, please contact us on administration@nottsccc.co.uk and we will reply as soon as possible.”

The 2007 Test at Trent Bridge between England and India produced record advance sales for a non-Ashes Test despite starting on a Friday.

And with next year’s npower Test against New Zealand returning to its traditional Thursday start on June 5, as well as unveiling the new stand on Bridgford Road, ticket sales are again expected to be high.

Added Lisa: “There are less than 5,000 seats left for the third day’s play on Saturday, and it appears as though the cricketing public can’t wait to see the new-look Trent Bridge next year.”

Tickets are available by calling the Trent Bridge Ticket Office on 0870 168 8888 or by visiting www.nottsccc.co.uk.

Please note that there is a restriction of a maximum of six tickets per applicant for the One-day International.
