Notts Outlaws saw their slim chances of claiming the NatWest Pro40 title shrink even further after their match with Lancashire Lightning was washed out by rain.

A weather-front swept down from the north to leave Old Trafford soaked and although both teams were looking to play and try and force a victory to stay in touch with leaders Worcestershire, the game never had a chance to get started.

The wash-out also meant there was no chance for Ryan Sidebottom to get some match-practice as he bids to get back to fitness before returning to England duty.

Notts remain in second place above Sussex and Lancashire on run-rate, with all three sides having one game left.

They will only be able to overtake Worcestershire if they win their final match against Sussex at Hove on Sunday September 16 and must hope that the Royals lose their last three fixtures.
