Nottinghamshire seamer Ryan Sidebottom will miss England's ODI series in the West Indies due to an achilles injury.

Sidebottom has endured a frustrating winter with his international appearances severely restricted by niggling injuries.

"Ryan's had problems with his Achilles for a little while now and we feel its best served for him to go back and get some intensive treatment," said England Cricket managing director Hugh Morris.

"Obviously it's disappointing that he won't be available for the one-day series alongside Graeme Swann but with the amount of cricket we have coming up in England we feel he needs to go back and get treatment with a view to him being ready for the summer."

Swann meanwhile, battling with an elbow injury which will be operated on following the conclusion of England's Fifth Test in Trinidad, believes that England can force a result on the final day.

"The game has picked up pace," said Swann.

"It had to really as the last two days have been boring. The key is to get a decent score. If we can get 270 ahead and give ourselves time I think we can cause problems."
